Information for schools

Roman school
Roman School in Trier

For school classes we offer guided tours suited to various age groups (takes about 1 hour). There are questionaires available to intensify the learning experience of what has been seen. The students have the opportunity to answer the questions either individually or in groups. They are allowed to visit the museum and the grounds, independent of the tour, in order to help answer the questionaire. For a small fee, we offer the use of a barbecue and picnic area.
Should you want to come with two school groups at the same time, this presents no problem, a tour can be started every quarter hour. Afterwards there is the opportunity to relax with roman board games.

As a »learn by doing« program we offer bread baking (takes about 4 hours and is limited to a maximum of 30 participants). First, flour is ground in a reconstructed Roman mill and then the dough is made according to an original recipe. Parallel to this, the oven (a copy of an original) has to be heated. While the dough is rising, the pupils can take the museum tour and after the bread is done they can use the picnic/barbecue araea. The detail of the baking process and additional information are available, per fax, when you make a reservation.
Since this program can take place only once a day, early reservations are recommended.
